We lost a 8 month old Rottie to parvo and she was up on all of her shots. Maybe not irresponsible maybe it was just bad luck.

So sorry Pam-I remember my puppy when I was a child getting parvo, and have vaccinated all my dogs for it ever since. I hope your pup is feeling better today

Hang in there, though it seems hard to believe at times, it will get better...it has to. I lost my dream career to my disability,(head injury from a truck accident caused seizure disorder and then mild brain damage), and I have also had to deal with some kind of weird neurological condition that is causing problems with my spine and joints, and crushing cluster migraines, so I went from being the chief bread winner to being furniture, and our socio-economic status went from upwardly mobile middle class, to hanging by our fingernails, poor, white , trash. Its constant stress and strife, but you cannot let it eat you.
I just got my dogs neutered to stop them from fighting, and low and behold, my big boy got an infection and I had to drop another $150 on another vet visit and meds, and the scholarship money that was supposed to be here this week,(according to my lying enrollment advisor at Grand Canyon University), in all actuality wont be here until sometime next month, and it is too late to withdraw and return to NAU for this semester. My truck just got a brake job because I was running metal to metal, and now it needs a water pump, and to top it off, when the mechanic at Meineke drained my A/C system, he screwed up and supposedly did not realize that he didnt have the proper fittings or certification to refill it, so now I have no A/C in my truck. No dryer in my house, my washer and microwave are both dying noisy deaths, and none of my fat, healthy, chickens are laying. But, my kids are healthy and its the monsoon so I have to count my blessings.
Try to take a deep breath and think of all of the ways you are blessed, and then breathe real deep and just think that they cant kill you for owing them money, and you are not facing fire, flood or famine. This helps me to get up and move every single day. :aww

emzyyy,I dont know how old you are or how much "life" you have experienced but I am guessing not much, dont believe everything you see on the net or TV,or Oprah or the local news...MOST petstore puppies are taken very good care of and vetted before they ever go up for sale,MOST are not inbred,MOST BREEDERS work very hard and care as much for their dogs as there children, now on the other hand what people see on TV are hoarders and people with other mental problems that let things get out of hand and didnt ask for help, the reason there is so many dogs in shelters is because of bad owners, not bad breeders,no breeder I know ever wants to see their pups in shelters,MOST BREEDERS will take dogs back even if they are old and gray without question,as far as to many dogs in the world,I think there are too many people in the world, should we put a stop to people haveing kids? how about all the people on this board that hatch chicks to sell,do you hatch chicks to sell? the only difference between chicks and dogs and children is the species..I agree with you on one point,if you dont have the money to care for any animal please dont take it home.Did you know that organization import thousands of dogs a year from mexico just to "rehome",BS,its to sell because they cant find enough saleable animals locally to make there profit. If anyone wants to support a shelter support your local town or county shelter, they are the only ones doing it for the animals, organization and PETA are in it for the money to line their own pockets and they put down thousands of pets a year without ever trying to adopt them out..

Without attacking you personally, I completely disagree with your method of "educating" emzyy is full of incorrect information. Pet stores do get their supply of stock, ie animals from puppy mills. They do not care where they get the stock from, they are simply in it to make money. Pet Stores do not check out the breeding, health or characteristics of the stock they purchase.

The Humane Soc of the US does not import dogs to sell! That is the most inaccurate information I have ever heard. Those dogs are imported so they can find the homes they deserve. The Humane Society does not put down thousands of animals a year, however that cannot be said about the state of NY. Thousands upon thousands of homeless animals are euthanized there each year.

PETA is a completely different organization all together. They have done some good work and not so good work.

You are right, the world is over populated. If you cannot afford, take care, love and cherish children, then by no means should you be having them. That is just competely off the topic.

I support the efforts of my local shelters, rescues and state efforts to improve the lives of all animals, whether they be pets or farm animals.

Pet stores DO get there puppys from puppy mills. they do not come from responsible breeders. Any responsible breeder would NEVER sell their puppies to a pet store.

Rooster0209: You are right!
