yes. she hobbled down the ramp this morning then has just sat down with her leg to the side. there is a ledge to get from the hut to the ramp and she did put her foot on this to help hersefl over it. still had to flap

You can try splinting with a few stips of vet wrap and some padding, but make sure it isn’t too tight. Or you can confine her to a dog crate with food and water to force her to rest the leg. Or just see that she doesn’t use the leg a lot or get hurt by others.

Ok. It is windy here and she has just clambered her way back up the ramp and is in a nesting box. she is about third in the pecking order and they aren't real fighty anymore, so i guess that won't worry her too much

should i use paddle pop stick for the slint or just wrap it. she will move her leg around and go to take steps but won't rest her foot. do i spread her toes when i splint?

Can't you access the video I posted? It shows how to splint a joint. You splint it to make the joint immobile. She will not be able to bend the joint or the fracture site if properly splinted. Practice on a stick you've partly broken so it will bend. Wrap padding around the fracture on the stick then wrap elastic wrap around that. When you're done, the stick should be straight again and not bendable.

That's your goal with a broken leg bone, even if it's at the joint of the foot and the shank. She will probably be able to walk on it after you splint it. It should stop hurting if properly splinted and immobilized so it won't bend. Yes, use popsickle sticks or tongue depressors. Padding is essential. If you just wrap it with bandage, it may still bend and that isn't desirable since a hairline fracture can fracture the rest of the way.

If there's no swelling, it's possible it isn't fractured or if it is, it's hairline.

No i can't access that video. I will have to wait as she has decided to lay. I am still hesitant as to where the brake is. By the sound of it, would you say it was the ankle?
