Bag out of Layena package (updated w tutorial)

Here's the one that my mother and I have made so far. We used a different kind of handle that makes these even more easy to make.

We bought 2 bags of Layena and a bag of BOSS on Saturday. When I told DH that I was saving the bags for a craft project, he just looked at me with big question marks on his face! When I told him my plans for them he just said "who knew!" LOL
I'm interested in the handles you made too, greenfamilyfarms. Then I'll have to go dig my sewing machine out from under all the STUFF in my sewing room.

VERY COOL!
I have been saving the poly bags that the Layena and the Purina have been coming in with hopes of making some bags like that. They sell similar bags made of poly rice sacks for over $30 on some websites. It's very popular. I've seen some cute purses and wallets and thought "gee, my crafty BYC friends could do this with the poly feed sacks!". Unfortunately, I'm not much of a seamstress but I have about 10 bags.

Perhaps I'll try. They'd make great Christmas gifts.

Ther's lots of ideas for recycled bags here:

Great idea and cute bags! This might be a good way for my daughter and myself to learn to use our inherited sewing machines... I certainly have plenty of these bags in the barn.
