Hi all! I had my first broody hen and while she had 5 eggs, only one made it to hatching. I learned a lot through the experience. The broody hen was my bantam Cochin and the one egg that hatched was actually her egg! My roo is a Polish. I’m curious what you all think of this chick as I haven’t found a picture of a Cochin chick that looks like this one.
Also adding a picture of the chick, mom and dad☺️

Your chicks should have a small crest and beard. It looks like it’ll be a paint.
That’s what I’m hoping! We had two others hatch with another broody hen, she ended up not being a good mom. We tried to give the chicks to the Cochin, but she wouldn’t accept them. We have them inside. They are both mixed with the same rooster but one is from our buff Brahma hen and the other is from our buff Polish hen. I’m excited to see how they grow out!
