I have 5 very sweet black bantam cochins, all 15 weeks old. I was hoping for at least 1 cockerel, but am thinking I might have 5 pullets? What are the odds lol! All of their faces are fairly pink.. more than some pics are showing & a couple of them seem to go quite red during excitement, but none seem to have huge combs or wattles for their age.
The 4th pic is a runt (1/2 size) with skinny, half quilled feathers, never developed flight feathers at all & has always had a larger comb for the tiny body, but the comb has never gotten bigger & wattles are small.
The 5th pic is my only hope I think, but still no huge comb or wattles & I lean now towards another pullet.
Any opinions to give me hope for a boy? I am a rookie & this is my 1st year with bantam cochins so am not familiar with their development..
Thanks ahead!! :)

Ha ha Seems like when we want a cockerel in the batch, we get all pullets. Or visa versa....

No kidding! Last year (my 1st ever chickens), I got 12 GLW & 9 were roosters when I wanted hens! lol This year the opposite... seems like zero roosters in my wee bantams & I wanted them! ..another lol :p
Thanks for your reply! :)

You have my dream girls!
I seem rooster cursed and always end up with some. Being in town that is not such a good thing for me.

Did you order them or get them locally? If you got them locally maybe they have a handsome fellow for you.

Unfortunately they sell out early spring, so looks like no rooster for me!:th
I'll hope for more hens for you next time! :)
