My Lavender Ameracauna, lives to be broody & it's so contagious! I finally started dipping her underside in water to cool her off and it helped. Of course, the great molt has begun and everyone is nasty then.

I think I may give that a try..she is not going to like me lol! I actually think she may be snapping out of it a little. She is not as clucky when we boot her out of her nest...and it is longer periods of time before she gets frantic to get back in her nest! Survived week one.. barely wouldn't be so bad except her sister doesn't like the cluckiness of Fiona and will peck at her if we don't keep her away. So we have been watching them like toddlers

Absolutely adoring my silver penciled girl who we've named Quaker for her lovely white collar. But as I've been studying chicken colors and genetics, I've noticed a very distinctive barring on her feathers. Is she still classified as an SP, but with autosomal barring?

Hey guys! Mind if I join? I have 3 Mottled Cochin bantam chicks that just turned a week old yesterday.

I actually am not supposed to have these birds, but Meyer Hatchery randomly charged my debit card and sent me 11 bantam chicks without my consent, and refuse to do anything about this error.

So here I am with three Mottled Cochin bantam chicks! Lol I am hoping to keep them, however, my mother is not pleased with the new additions, so I am going to have to convince her to let me keep them......wish me luck. I'll try to post pictures of them a bit later.

For the record, I will not be ordering from Meyer again, who has expierence with My Pet Chicken? I am thinking about switching to them.

That's a good thought! Makes me want to sneak into that hatchery and see what they are dabbling in.

I won hatching eggs from MPC last fall thru a contest here on BYC. Alex, that does their postings here, was very friendly and helpful. The eggs arrived nicely and I got some cute chicks from them. Other than that, I haven't purchased any from them (a bit overly expensive on some things, in my opinion)

I'm not sure how Meyer could charge your card without your consent, and also send birds to you, but I guess stranger things have happened. Good luck with keeping them, and hope you will post some pics!

I set 4 eggs from my blue frizzle hen, mottled blue rooster. All 4 hatched, one is definitely splash, 2 are very light blue, possibly may grow out splash, and 1 is darker blue. The 3 light ones are definitely going to carry the frizzle, not sure on the dark one yet, but maybe!

Yeah, I have absolutely no idea how it happened. I had placed an order for 37 standards the day before, and the next day, a charge showed up and when I called the hatchery, they informed me I had ''ordered'' bantams and they were on their way. I was NOT a happy customer. I hadn't even clicked on bantams, much less put them in my cart and gone through the multi step process to complete the order.
