BANTAM COCHINS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you planning to show?
and i understand, I'm sometimes amazed that i get any pics that aren't just a blur!
Been trying to get a pic of this little one because i think it's going to be frizzled, but she will not hold still! They all turn out like this :lau

We just have to use our imagination to fill in the blurrrrrr and see your cute baby :lau

Not sure about showing, but I would like to breed as close to the standard as I can and have birds of good body shape as their breed standard intends them to be. It's simply a project I want to do with all my birds.

And yes, that's about right with chickens. All blurry.

That's exactly my theory and want. I would likely never show, but i do have customers with kids in 4H, for example, that want to show them. So i do want to breed as close as possible to SOP.

Finally got a decent pic of a pretty little splash of mine..After hatching several splash males, i finally got a female. She's around 9 weeks old

She looks more lavender/self blue than blue

I'm still learning about the colors chickens can be. All in all, she's greyish looking.

Pretty chicken. :) And yeah, same here with breeding close as possible to SOP. I live in a farming community, so 4-H is pretty big here too, and there are shows throughout the year.

I wondered if she was self-blue also. Self-blue or lavender are the same "lav" gene, some breeds use the self-blue term, like self-blue OEGBs. Some use lavender, like lavender Orpingtons. Same gene. I think cochins use self-blue terminology. Blue is diluted black, with blue/black/splash. Two totally things. BBS blue can be many varying shades. Having said that, i think your girl is blue because of being able to see the shaft of the feather. Usually its not visible in lavenders. *I think* Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Do you have any idea what her parents look like?

I do not unfortunately. She's hatchery stock of the local farm supply and they order them from somewhere themselves. Which is why I am asking if she looks good enough (SOP) to be used as breeding. I still need to get a picture of her standing and not being held. When I do, I'll post it here.

She's beautiful! And that's great... sounds like a great plan to move forward with.
