They are gorgeous! (At least to my very newbie eye!) Thank you for posting them, I havemy first eggs from Christina Ledford in the 'bator right now and I am soooo anxious for them to hatch! I breed horses also, and you have to wait just over two weeks to find out if your mare is pregnant. This three weeks waiting for them to hatch seems like forever lol!!!!!
Actually, I'm doing that too although not for hatching yet, just to have... The other part of our flock is Black Coppers, Easter Eggers, a Wheaten Marans and and olive egger... They are 10-12 weeks old... I know I've got a while to wait. We're still trying to figure out what the one EE is. Nobody can agree.
This is a link to the album of pictures of the flock. (The genderless EE is the black and white speckled one)
They are beautiful Kelly! Patience with Barnie and their eggs is a virtue my friend, trust me. I hope you get them soon. Stephanie's first daughter has started laying...her eggs are great and almost identical to her mothers, but with more speckles and a tad darker. She has only given me about 4 eggs and she isn't laying regularly yet, so the waiting game is still on so to speak. LOL! My other younger gal is nearing 4.5 months old so the wait is on with her, she is the only pullet that I hatched out from this years eggs from Johan. This years eggs from him were darker than last years so I am anxious to see what she may do for us. I also have 2 other little biddies growing out that are 3 months old. Wait, wait, wait!
A member of BYC is picking up a trio from me tonight or tomorrow....they have never posted but I am hoping that I can talk them into keeping in touch via the Barnie thread or email. The cockerel that they are getting is identical to his daddy, almost hurts to give him up. The pullets are looking just as nice.
Crossing my fingers that you get some eggies soon my friend!

Yes, Barnies are slower to mature than other breeds when it comes to filling out and growing up, but where laying is concerned, mine have started laying right at 6 mos. Just when you least expect it...you will find an egg.
