Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Although I can't speak for the quality of the birds the breeder you are purchasing these eggs from, Johan and Christina van Barneveld Ledford bloodlines are very good lines. These are rare birds, so not much variety exists as I understand it with this breed.

Trisha (tls_ranch) has been breeding these for a couple of years, so hopefully she'll respond.

Happy~ I sooooooo forgot how cute they were at hatch until a week or so ago. OMGosh they are some of the cutest chickie babies I think I have ever seen. I have 8 more that go into lockdown on Thursday. I haven't candled so I have no idea what's going to happen. Sent home 9 eggs with my bestfriend yesterday for her to incubate and I have more eggs on the way from Johan.......I can't wait to be swimming in cuteness overload with snuggly Barnevelder babies!

tls and media~ Beautiful Babies that HappyChooks hatched out from your eggs! She doesn't know what she's getting into and how much she is going to be so totally addicted to Barnies!!

I look forward to seeing your babies too, Kim! Good luck with your hatch! And how awesome that you are getting more eggs from Johan!

I know what I'm getting into - I just don't care!

Their personalities and sweetness is over the top!!!!!!! I wasn't prepared for it when I brought home my bestfriends only and very lonely chick to hatch from our first eggs from Johan. Before he was a month old he had already won me over, no way was he ever leaving here!

He is as sweet and friendly if not more so than my Delawares.....so is Stephanie, very people friendly birds. Ohhhh and then just wait.....the first time you see them in all their mature glory out glistening in the sun, their vivid colors just pop and shine!!!!

Now I got some new chick pics share too

Haching yesterday, today and St. Patricks Day because I set the eggs over a three day period. Blue projects, pure barnies and cornevelders. So far 14 chicks, 1 pipped and 6 more unpipped eggs.

The first set of chicks to hatch in my new brooder that we just finished last night just in time, LOL.

My new brooder 2'x4' that is sooooo much better than a plastic storage bin. I want to build a double decker one for older chicks and maybe a "chick" tractor coop.

My best blue cockerel who followed me across the yard asking for treats. These guys have been such pests trying to follow me everywhere...even into the house LOL.

Love this new brooder you built
Will you send me more detailed plans for it? or more pics? How did you do the top with the light?
Is it in the garage? or in the house? does the light keep them warm enough in a garage or do they have to be inside?
It looks great

I'll try to get some more pics soon.

Here's my "chick brooder" (there's no snow on it right now) from craigslist. It works beautifully, even in winter I can keep the temp perfect for the babies.
