Is this breed a hybrid? Is it a cross between Barred Rock Rooster and Leghorn hen? Do they lay a lot of eggs?

Yes, a cross between any two breeds (including BR X Leghorn) is a hybrid. The offspring of that particular cross should be very good layers.

Barred Leghorn is a breed of chicken. They do lay eggs very well.

The breed was created by crossing different breeds of chickens, such as Barred Plymouth Rock and White Leghorn.

Barred Leghorn is similar to the California Gray breed.

Sorry, I misread your post. I thought you were telling me you had a cross between a BR and a Leghorn, and were asking if it was a hybrid. X2 on a Barred Leghorn being a breed (a variety of Leghorn).

Barred Leghorn is a breed of chicken. Barred Leghorn was created using Barred Plymouth Rock and White Leghorn chickens. You can't breed White Leghorns or Brown Leghorns and get Barred Leghorns. They are each a different breed. The definition of a breed is that it breeds true the majority of the time.

Barred Leghorn is a breed that is recognized by the APA. I suspect the California Gray is not recognized because it looks almost the same as the Barred Leghorn, which was also created using Barred Plymouth Rock and White Leghorn chickens.
