Barred Rock chick. head down, lethargic, feisty LAST NIGHT

I originally had put some eggs in the incubator with the Silkies that were suppose to go my friend but only two barred rocks hatched and one chick died from an infected navel stump. After spending $189 at the vet for this one and the Silkie biddy with the slipped tendon, June Bug maybe a keeper...
Ah, I was wondering if June bug was straight run but decided to keep my mouth shut! :)

Junebug's dad was a barred rock also so she is a purebred barred rock. I had some Easter Egger hen eggs that had they hatched they would of had Barred rock dads but they must have outran the rooster as none of them were fertile. I ordered the silkie eggs online and all hatched but one.

June Bug has beat wry neck! :) She is the most friendly of the chicks and will fly on your arm like a trained falcon. :)

HI I've seen your thread
How long did it take June Bug to recover?
Did she have trouble breathing or was it just the wry neck?
I'm sadly about to cull put down my chicken she's been having complications early January and it's gotten worse

June Bug's wry neck lasted about 2 weeks but I went pretty hardcore about the neck massages and neck stretches. I had a wry neck chick 3 years ago whose neck never got better. I had to hand feed and water her for 4 months STRAIGHT (and that was the only way she was able to get any food or water) until she SHOWED me she could eat. She had learned to do things with her head completely twisted around to the point it LOOKED right side up but it was a full twist. Her name was "Chicken Little". She was also a house chicken that I brought to work with me everyday (horse stable). It was there she walked under my golf cart and I ran her over... omg worst day ever. Here is Chicken Little walking as an adult after she re-learned to walk and feed herself with her head twisted...

This was from my facebook post years ago... (though I have changed "is" to "was" since she has passed from me running her over... :( "She was also not growing and was the size of a quail where the others are almost full size (therefor the name "Chicken Little"). She had "wry neck" which is where she can't hold her head up on her own for most of the time and sometimes when upset will roll over. It is mainly caused by a vitamin deficiency. It CAN be over come but it can take MONTHS.... yeah. So I am having to support her left side so she can eat or drink. I put Vitamin E oil in her food along with: Selenium, Vita Sol, Calcium powder for birds, Sav-a-Chick powder, and a crushed baby aspirin. I bought some plain oatmeal and cooked it up and put some baby food (apple sauce with pumpkin) and a spoonful of apple cider vinegar on top of a crushed fresh tomato and mixed up her meds in it and sprinkled her regular chick starter on top. That is what is in the glass candle holder. The red skull candle holder is her water. I don't want her knocking water over again so that works. In this pic she has eaten so much that she fell asleep."
