Those are definitely both roos. One is just developing a bit slower than the other.

all i can say is wow...if you go and look at any chicken at the age of 17 weeks you should be able to tell the gender by the saddle and hackle development unless they are hen feathered such as sebrights then you have to go by comb development. if you buy chicks try to find some that are at least 6+ weeks being 8-10 weeks can be better. at six weeks the most you will be going off of is the comb and wattle development, cockerels will, for the most part, have bigger redder combs and wattles. you can also look at feather development. if you find some that are 8-10 weeks again look at combs and their coloration as males should be showing male colorationg such as the solid deep red on the wings that you can see on a lot of ee's, partridge colored birds, and many others.ok people...thanks for all your help.....i will wait it out...(as i have no where to go with these roosters!!!!)...but they must go!!!....i called and mailed the person who sold them to me from craigslist...this is what he said....."I DO NOT OWN OR HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE POULTRY ANYMORE !!!! nobody can be 100% on young birds . ive tried to contact kelly . she hasnt been returning my email . i dont know if shes in business. there was no misrepresentation of such . im sorry its a chance anyone takes when buying young poultry . roosters would have a much larger cone on there head . these do not have it ."
thanks...but i meant i JUST CANT!!!!....i dont have it in me to do that, then eat them...if it was done and packedtheres a thread on here with how to do your own birds if you wish to learn how
Being a NewYorker, I am always skeptical. How does one know if the chicken they get back, is actually the birds you dropped off for processing.I'm sorry you were taken by an unethical seller. THe next time you buy off of Craigslist, you might want to take a picture of the birds, post them here and get opinions, then buy them. I've seen some people do that, and avoid some pretty bum deals that way.
BTW none of those birds are even slightly female.
Also, as a note on the processing, we take our turkeys and chickens to a local processing business. They just charge us like 3 dollars, we give them the bird, and get handed back this beautiful prepared product. It's a really good deal. Perhaps you could Google search for one in your areB
