I am also thinking not pure BR. I'm not seeing the lighter color I would expect in a BR cockerel.Both are mixed breed cockerels.

Thanks, now I see the muffs and beard, LOL - that's a giveaway for sure.The OP's birds have messy, uneven barring, especially in the wings and hackles. The second also has muffs and a beard.
Thanks for all the feedback (even though it wasn't what I wanted to hear! I just assumed they were Barred Rocks based on coloring, but as I said, we don't really know anything yet! I'm curious: any idea what possible mix of breeds this guy is?View attachment 1066622
