Bathing suit season

AMEN SISTER!!!! I am 5'4 and all plus size clothing is made for a woman that is 9 feet tall.

It's so true! I'm also 5'4" (popular height?) and will swing from 122-126 lb. I have one of those computerized scales that not only tells you pounds, but also ounces! Never get one of those! Anyway, all jeans will be like five inches too long. I can't wear boots that go up too high, because... My calves are so big they won't zip shut! I would be happy if I was properly proportioned and 125. Sheesh.

I'm 5'2" Capris are ankle lenght for me. Go figure. (I won't post my weight) I can only say that I was 2 years old when I wore a "2" I think that was the last single digit size I ever wore.

Edited to add. The pic in my avitar is not me. You can't tell but there is a tiny dog under that persons chair.

On a side note, if anyone feels up to making some of their own clothes, here's what I do! I buy the pattern, NEVER buy the fabric on the same day. Then I go home, cut it out and hold it up to me. It's usually way to long. Remembering to allow for seams, I pin it up until it's better. Then I lay out the fabric to see how much I REALLY need. I can lay the pattern out differently (re:better) and save myself money by wasting less fabric.

Case in point. A skirt pattern called for 1 5/8 yards. I can get it out of 1 1/8 yards.

I'm debating trying to make my own board shorts. Swimsuit fabric is like $15 per yard, but I could get it out of a half a yard. So $7.50, plus a 40% off coupon equals a $4.50 experimental pair of shorts. Not too shabby, I think!

I agree. I used to sew alot and always laid out my fabric at home. Even if I did not need to adjust the lenght, I could always save on laying out in a different configuration. I used to be able to buy flat fold fabric for such good prices and often it was 60" wide. Those were the good ole days. Now, most fabric around here is at least 7 bucks a yard if not more.
