Bay Area Meet Up/Chicken Swap - Sunday October 10th!

I am still hoping to go as well, gotta see when my Saturday classes end up being. But I would like to come on down, will be coming from Sacramento.

UPDATE!

After playing phone tag for the better park of a week I finally got in touch with the manager of the SL Marina Park.... sad news though guys...

She said due to wildlife proximity and the potential to spread air borne diseases, chickens wouldn't be allowed at the park. There are many spots available, but we'd have to do it without our birds. I personally don't want to have to leave the chooks at home.

With that said she was very helpful in giving me the contact number for the director of the East Bay Parks & Rec, she said to give him a call and he can give me a list of parks in the East Bay that can cater to our chicken needs. SO, that's what I'm doing tomorrow.

Do you all think we should maybe start looking for a meeting place located at someone's home, just in case? Like as a back up? I know Cheryl graciously offered her place, could anybody else accommodate? I'm not too worried at this point, October is still a month away but I don't want to end up scrambling (no pun intended

) at the last moment to find a place for us all.

Sweet! I'll call it chickenstock reconnaissance! Lemme talk with Emily and we'll probably do a weekend if that's cool (tonight is out 10 year anniversary and the kids just started school and so dust will probably settle a bit). I'll email you!

Rob, just Pm'd you, also I'm using your incubator AGAIN as I have 12 eggs in my king suro (I can hear pecking from inside the eggs now!) and I like putting the chicks in yours afterwards to dry out...

you may never get it back...I probably owe you lots of back rent

Not at all! I think you're place is gorgeous Cheryl.

My only concern is that Lafayette isn't to central for the whole Bay Area, especially if we have folks coming from the Peninsula or Santa Cruz. I really wanted a location in San Leandro or Hayward, I feel like if we're considering the "Greater Bay Area" (Sac to Santa Cruz) then those two cities are the most in between.

I could be wrong though- what do you all think? What cities should we be considering?
Plus, it's really hot when you go through the tube,

I really liked the idea of the Marina park because it was right next to the ocean! Too bad.
