If it's on a Saturday it has to be after 2 PM for me. I work the mornings, I might be able to swing getting that day off but it would just be easier if it were on a Sunday.

Our daughter is allergic to dogs, so I think that it is best to probably skip non-caged animals this year... at least until we can find an open space that is friendly to all the animals we'd like to bring.

Regarding the date: Either 10/2 or 10/9 is our preference. Sundays usually don't work for us.

Aargh! Looks like I'll have to miss this one.... I have to go out of town.

Maybe we could hold another one in the spring? I like the idea of trying to do it at the farm park down by San Jose because it has a really neat ambiance. I really would like to meet everyone....

Maybe we could hold a potluck this winter, even if we can't bring the chickens? I'd be willing to host a potluck at our house in Newark this winter although people couldn't bring chickens since there is no place to put them other than our little coop.

I know we cannot accommodate everyone's schedule... NiftyChicken said Sundays won't work for them, and Saturdays won't work for us! LOL! If it is held on a Saturday and we cannot make it, though, we'll be there with you guys in spirit! I'm hoping we will be able to go whatever day it's held, though, and I am planning to make a big pot of gumbo for this. I used to live in Baton Rouge, and the 1st two things I learned to do when I got there was make Cajun crawfish fettuccini (it is to DIE for) and I learned to make good gumbo. Beings that this is a chicken event, I'll make chicken and seafood gumbo (always gotta have the shrimp in it or it just ain't right). Mmmm, dem's good eats, dat cajun food right dere (there).

replying to the Yakima Kid's posting about hosting a future swap /meet in San Jose:

Prusche Park in San Jose already has chickens and is designated as an agricultural park. Maybe they won't object to chickens. Might be worth checking into for a future swap/meet/potluck
