BCM rooster singing the egg song

I thought it would be fun to share this video of my rooster, Odin, singing back and forth with my Wyandotte hen as she laid her egg (you can hear her a little bit, too).

I read an article by BY Bob ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...r-people-the-egg-song-why-do-hens-sing.75323/ ) about the egg song, as well as this article that mentions other hens singing along with the hen who has laid and is singing ( https://www.fresheggsdaily.blog/2014/03/understanding-chicken-behavior.html ). Considering that roosters are protective of their flock and progeny, I made the assumption that he is joining in. He might just be parroting her because he’s a noisy boy, but I like to think it’s the egg song.

Your rooster is probably quite proud of his accomplishments, as is my Odin

this is what my mornings consist of...I’m glad I live in the middle of nowhere. All my boys love joining in with Tilly’s eggsong.

This was like the third day with my first flock.
I ran down there thinking they all were being killed,
and there he was up on the roost celebrating LOUDLY with most the girls singing harmonies!!

The egg song is not nearly as charming if you have multiple roosters.
I miss my hearing.

We bolted out there, worried about what we'd find. Even my husband, who's not the biggest fan lol
