BDutch's bantam flock & natural breeding projects #5 🪺 🪺 and #6

I am familiar with their need for height.
These two are over 3m up in the rafters.

Problem gets solved tonight. Someone reacted on ‘marketplace’. This person has many more bantams and bigger sized chickens. He said he wants to collect the Vorwerk and the Sussex male and female.

When I told him I only wanted to sell two of the girls, he was disappointed.
Also discussed the problem : that I have more cockerels I can’t keep. He ageed on taking the Dutch bantams too, if he could buy all three bigger bantam pullets. Wants to try if they get along with his Auracana’s.

Its a pity I can’t keep one Vorwerk or Sussex, but also a great relief that everything can get back to normal tomorrow.

Yes, he came yesterday evening. I had adds out for over a month to pick up free roosters and pairs for just 10 euro. Nobody who could have a rooster applied.

Last week I felt the situation could not go on any longer without making another coop. The setup was getting too crowded and the adult hens didn't accept the invasion in ‘their’ coop in the evening. To be honoust, I didn’t like the idea to expand the setup. Its big enough as it is in my garden.

The opportunity to rehome all cockerels if I sold three pullets was too tempting to say no.

I still have the 2 smallest pullets, the blue and pile Dutch. Its a pity I had to sell all 3 larger bantams. But 8 hens (6 adults and 2 pullets) is a nice number for my setup.

The idea to hatch again next year with one sweet broody and 5 or 6 red Sussex hatching eggs is appealing. Having both red Sussex and Vorwerk chicks, my preference is red Sussex without any doubt.

Pile Dutch, name ? Yellow, Witje, Moon or something better.

Buepartridge Dutch
Name ?: Blue, Blauwtje or Bloedje or something better.

Ideas are welcome.

They're beautiful! For the first bird, maybe Ember? I don't have any other ideas. I really like Witje, although I have no idea what it means

Or little white creature.
