Be careful what you say in public forums!

Like many of the posters on this thread warned, remember that anything you post on FB, a blog or sites like this are not private. I do have a FB account and I learned a valuable lesson about venting about work. I was lucky and did not get reprimanded or lose my job but it was enough to find out that my boss found out about my comments. Just remember, if you want information to be private, the last thing you want to do is put it on the web. The police have used social sites to track down criminals (yeah they can be so stupid as to use their own names) and many employers will watch what is said on those websites by their employees. They do not have to hack into anyone's account just be a "friend" or a "friend of a friend". That being said, I think you should let the rooster spend a weekend with the lady who wants to rescue him!

Facebook can be good or bad. It is just a tool.

On the good side, it has allowed me to communicate with my son deployed in Iraq, keep in touch with my sister and boat loads of nieces and nephews (on hubby's side of the family), view and post photos, etc...

It also allowed my son to expose some serious problems at his base that have now been taken care of.

On the bad side...
I know some kids in their 20's who posted really nasty stuff on someone's website. Their step dad found out and flipped. He told their mom. The mom defended the kids nasty behavior and the dad got so angry he threw the mom out of the house.

Now this is not the fault of facebook. Facebook was just what the kids used as a way to act like jerks. The rest was a result of ongoing issues related to said kids never been held accountable for their actions.

Hey everyone, thanks for the support!!! I REALLY enjoyed reading all your posts!

My settings are private, but I am "friends" with my husband who is running for the US House in our WI district. I think it was someone from his page that saw my post.

In any case, I have gone back and made my settings as private as possible.

I do enjoy FB because we had a son with special needs and it was a wonderful place to share with other moms who had children like ours.

Thanks again! I KNEW I'd find like minded people here. Next time I'm traumatized by the war with my Roo, I'll come here instead!

Excuse me, i have to report this post to the FBI for Animal Abuse...

lol. This story is funny and sad at the same time. its kinda funny the roo wont learn his lesson, maybe after being knocked out he will finally learn. its sad that someone on facebook would call the cops on you. I agree, set your page to private, and go through your friends, make sure you know everyone on your friends list. i dont accept friend requests from people i dont know.

Folks, nothing is private if you post it anywhere on the WWW. If you don't want every person in your life to know something, don't say it anywhere, Facebook, BYC, yahoo groups, blogs, etc. I think this openness that Facebook encourages is going to come back and bite you where it hurts.

Cynthia is exactly right. I used to only worry about it with the press; just don't tell them anything you don't want to see printed and possibly taken out of context. Same for Facebook these days....

That must be why I'm ALWAYS in trouble... my problem is that I only post/say what I don't care if everyone hears... just some people don't want to hear what I have to say.

btw noodleroo... love the "well behaved women..." quote... i have that magnet.

I expressed my opinions on another site (not associated with these four linked), and I got beaten up so badly, that I've spammed the posting notices on my Yahoo account!!!
NEVER going to THEIR threads, again!!!! Even ONE of the Moderators there "white knighted" me, too. Great Horsefeathers, what is wrong with free speech, nowadays?!?!?!?
Oh, well, that site doesn't have NEAR the 65K+ members here, and it shows.
BTW, IMHO, I would really watch what you post on FaceBook. I don't think it will be long before we hear about FaceBook posts being admissable in court.
I support your chicken-keeping practices 100%--just wanted to let you know!!

Good grief. I would have handed the Deputy the rooster and said "Here take the poor abused thing then"

Stuff like that just ticks me off.
