The bear will come back, even after there's nothing left to eat. We lost a chicken coop and almost all of our flock to a bear in one night. He was back the next night, and the next three more nights. This was after we cleaned the area, burned the carcasses he left, and raked up all the feed. The next night, my husband was off work and layed out for him. He got one shot off at him with the 30.06. He's not been back since, and we haven't seen him on the game cams.
Pennsylvania game commission promised us a bear trap. They haven't brought a thing up, and last time I called to ask about the trap, the reply was ma'am, they're just chickens. Yeah, they're just chickens, but what about my KIDS?
Get a shot off on him. Don't say a word to anyone. My husband fired a warning shot, a very well aimed, directed warning shot. I can't say for sure if it went off and died, but it hasn't been back.
The game commission aren't much help around here. Hopefully you have better luck.
Blessings-
Em
