That's what I meant, they don't see it as the color red

They see a person in dark colors as a bear.


Just the dark colors in random areas don't make a difference. I have a very dark blue glazed bird bath...I put a dark slate rock peice in it slanted leaning on the side and going down into the base...they need a ramp to land on and then to walk down the ramp to get thier drink. I've read about other's putting rocks in bowls with water...they can land on the rocks but not drown.

**the rock is about 4 inches across and 7-8 inches long.

And most honey bees prefer an abundance of a certain flowering plant...take clover or alfalfa for example. They are probably just investigating your other flowers to see how much is there and if it's worth it or not....a little bit of flowers isn't enough for them to go home to the hive and dance about to tell the others...but a mass plantings of something in bloom...will most likely get repeat vistors.

bees are very smart...just very thirsty...I've found some in the swimming pool...nothing I could do for them there....It's been very dry and hot lately.

Well i say they are smart for insect for sure. they sent out bees to find necter sites and those can tell the other bees how far and which way to find the site. Also know they need to store honey for winter months, also they will remove all drones before winter , no need feeding them , They can keep their hives cooled in hot summers and heated in winter.

My guess those ones found in water ,are those workers that have worked them self to death,(no strenth to get out) worker hatch in the spring lucky to live 6 weeks ,where those hatch late fall will live for months.

They are also smart enought to know if their queen die to make more queen cells, or their whole hive will die.

intelligence , like humans no......but honey bee and ants i thinks are the top of the list of insect worlds.

one thhing that amazed be about honey bees , fertile eggs hatch females , non fertile eggs hatch but all are males. Males don't even have stingers, so couldn't even protect the hive.
