Best Beginners Pigeon?

I had a pair of parlor tumblers that were the most prolific breeders I've ever owned. Almond cock and a yellow splash hen. All they ever produced was dun selfs. Since they were only a pet pair I started using them as pumpers for my show birds. They raised anything I put under them. Show Racers, Dragoons and even pigmy pouters. It was funny watching them feeding squeekers that were bigger then them.

On a side note I gave one of their offspring to a priest that kept a few pigeons and doves so he could have a bird that kids could hold and if it got out of their hands wouldn't fly away. It turned out to be a hen. She mated to a ringneck dove cock and produced a few mule offspring.

I have some i would give you if you came and got them, they are a cross between a carneau(a utility pigeon)and a homer.I have all kinds of colors and young birds or old birds.I have 3 young that are almost a month old that i have have raised so they will be very tame.I am located in north central Indiana.

I would start with rollers or homers, they're easy to come by and easy to raise. I've had pigeons most of my life, I've raised Jacs and tell you they are one of the more difficult breeds to raise.
You really need to have mating pens for them or use foster parents. The cock birds can be very aggressive. They are also usually expensive to buy. If you have your heart set on those two breeds, i would go with the OGOs if it were me. Good luck!

Spanish pouters.
