Best Chicken Mix Projects (Anyone who has done a project can post here)

Just set a dozen mixed eggs yesterday with my broody Ameraucana. 3 EE's, 2 White Leghorn x Ameraucana/EE's, 5 Cinnamon queen cross, and 3 Barred Rock cross. The fathers of those last 7 could be EE or Light Brahma. 20 more days!

Looked at some of your chicken pics. What's the parentage behind this "wild" colored chicken?

This little guy grew up to become the rooster in my profile pic. He was an EE and so were both his parents; I bought him from a local guy so I don't own the parents but I did get to see them. I really can't recall what the rooster looked like, but his mother was mostly buff with some black in her hackle and tailfeathers and a big ol' beard. Funny, he was beardless. He was sooo beautiful but I had to butcher him just last week. His whole life he had never been mean to anyone or anything, then one day he goes nuts. I went outside and found that he had fatally injured my big, gentle Brahma rooster for no real reason. Cackle hatchery sells EEs and they have in the description that EE meat tastes like quail. I'd say it's more like pheasant

I think it's the gaminess. I always thought pheasant tasted like gamey ol' rooster haha.

Here is a new pic of my Blue Orp/Rock cross

he has lacing, and ghost barring. He is gonna be so cool looking in a few more weeks. His tail feathers are finally starting to come in. They are curling upward just like his dad's(Splash Orp)

Here's a picture of my project.
Rooster and Hen.


This is the 1st hen that I hacthed from the project. Isay first because she is the only chick that lived to be grown. She now lays a medium/large green egg.
She is by a Buff Laced Polish rooster x Blue Easter Egger hen.



This is the first rooster that I hatched out of about 5 roosters that I decided to keep and use for breeding.
He is by Buff Laced Polish rooster x Silver EE hen.


I now have some babies of these two crossed together. I'll get picture later when they are a little older andit's not so cool.


Below is a nephew of the two above.

This one is by a 1/2 brother of the tweo posted above. The dad is a Polish (Buff Laced) rooster by a Buff Laced Polish out of a Golden Laced Polish hen.
He is out of an unknown Easter Egger hen. The rooster was in with 6 EE's of various colors. When he is older I think I may replace the rooster above with him, especially if his comb is more peacomed than the above.

I can't wait til my EE's start laying and have my Splash Orp rooster over them. Then I will have blue EE's.
