Kimbpara, Yes, betadine will work fine! I would blot it on there a couple times a day, even if it looks like it is getting better. It is still a fairly open sore and can be ideal for a bacteria breeding ground. The betadine will help to dry it out and keep the bacteria level down. You want to decrease your chances of infection as much as you can, because if it is getting better (from what it sounds like it is getting better), all you really need to worry about is infection. Just take a cotton ball and blot it on there! And make sure you get the surrounding area as well! He will have a little brown butt but it will make him feel better in the long run!
And what sounds good is that he is young (only a day or so) and is starting to look like he is getting better, that is always good! And no, the betadine will not hurt your baby!
