As far as the Hussein name, if one can not keep an open mind that it's a name and not what he stands for is a problem as far as I'm concerned. That just shows how closed minded one can be. Remember this is America, the melting pot! Not everone one is named John Smith.

Obama is not just pulling our troops out cut and dry, but has a plan to transition power to the Iraq nation over time, with McCain, there is no end, no time line, nothing. The men and women have not and will continue to NOT die in vain. However I feel to keep them over there with no real plan to return our troops home is wrong.

Look it's an opinoin and we are all entitled, but make sure it's based on facts not little things like a name....

As an ACTIVE DUTY Soldier with three years in Iraq and 20 years of service, I really dread the thought of Obama as the Commander in Chief. It just blows me away that some people think we should have a time line set to withdraw from Iraq. If we set a timeline the insurgents and Al-Qida will do nothing but lay down and wait until we leave then jump right back in and destroy Iraq.

As far as Palin goes, I love her. She definately is not the typical Washington insider. To that I say THANK GOD.

God bless you and your family for fighting for our freedom. I sure hope that all your fellow soldiers have your same way of thinking and get out and vote for McCain/Palin. This is an important election, there are wars at stake here, young men and women's lives are at stake. Get out the vote for McCain.

JLH- First off, let me thank you for your 20 yrs. in service. It is greatly appreciated.

Ok, so Obama has a time line yes, but not that in an "X" amount of time everyone comes home no matter what state the "war" is in. McCain wants to occupy Iraq indefinetly if needed, Obama wants a solution. McCain has not shown any plans to let Iraq control thier own country. I just have an issue with no plan.

My heart breaks for your father. His final thoughts must have been of his family.
He gave his life fighting for the benefit of the world. He was a hero.

I have heard similiar angry outcries against McCain from veterans. I am not a veteran.
If I was going down in my jet over North Vietnam I doubt I would pull the eject button
in fear of being caught. Maybe that makes me a coward. I don't know.

With that said the vast majority of veterans support McCain, especially the ones who
were jailed with him. Do their opinions not matter?

McCain is a man, a flawed one like us all, but unlike most of us he did risk his life in a
horrible war and spent 5 years in hell for it. That qualifies him as a hero in my book.

So true.

So many issues, so little leadership! From the VP debate, who is qualified to be a "heart beat away" and who could exercise sound judgment, diplomacy and inspire confidence?
That is not a rhetorical question and there will obviously be different opinions, worthy of respect and thoughtful discussion.
We got up at 2 AM to watch the debate from the UK and it's interesting to be out of the U.S. and get a wholly different perspective, not only on politics but from a larger world view.
And drilling ain't gonna solve the energy problem, it's a whole lot bigger than that. The evidence is there regarding Iraq being partly, if not mostly, about oil.
Who supports alternative energy to reduce our dependence on foreign imports? I am planning a solar chicken coop and hope to eventually incorporate both wind and solar to move away from dependence on local sources, never mind foreign ones.
As for the bail out, rescue, pump more taxpayers money into the abyss, it doesn't seem fair that the fat cats who have been greedy the past 15 years should be rewarded for their bad judgments. And finally, it's only 10% but nonetheless significant, of those who can't pay their mortgages. Why were those who couldn't pay given the mortgages in the first place? Enough ranting and raving from abroad from an ex-patriate, returning home to the good ol' USA in June.

I thought personal life didn't matter--remember the Monica scandle. I thought that was none of our business. Clinton is a joke of a man and made a joke of the office of President. On a lighter note, I do believe Hillary beats him in private.

He along with all of the other politicians that are in Washington. Honestly, are any of them trustworthy? Think about that...

I found it enjoyable.

I thought Biden was able to diminish Palin and really didn't address her at all, but simply spoke about McCain. His exact game plan and he did it well.

She tried to talk to Americanas and appear to be a good old girl who understands and is one of us. Her game plan and she did it well. (Good plan if people will fall for it.)

I don't think anyone was swayed either way, so I'd call it a wash.

They're even projecting my state for Obama, its always red, so I am suprised!

no there calling for our state to be a swing state with obama having a close lead. Same thing last election with kerry and bush. I have been all over the state the last two months and its going to be mccain.

Correct, it is listed as a swing state, but it is according to current polls, leaning towards Obama. It had been firmly red in past years.

I'm in the VERY red part of the state... and we've got a lot of blue popping up down here. That coupled with the very blue NoVA and Richmond area makes it a hopeful place for the Democrats.

BTW, I got my Bachelor's degree in Political Science at Longwood, down in your part of the state bishopchickens. I miss Farmville some days!
