Boy do I have good stuff to look forward to. Your chicks look like twins to mine at this point! :D Frodo is cuuuteeee; oh er ah, handsome. Look at he. Sitting there like, "Yeah, boie, I got this!!!" Can't wait for him to make some babies.

Daisy (a realistic lemon cuckoo nieder) and Donald.. yep, a pullet. Looking back at day 3 donald was the chick with the dark yellow back. Not going to hatch from her eggs tho.

oh, the biels like to jump high, and clearly have NO respect for my baby! Livvy pooped on my spare… she’s lucky not to be soup.

Yeeahh, about that… Here is Frodo and Sam on cull day. Live wt at 14 weeks was about 6-6.5 lbs; dressed 4.5-5 lbs.
They did not get along with Spatch, who is top dog so they had to go.

Oh my this is ALL so cool. Sorry Frodo and Sam; but I bet yaw'll tasted scrumpdeliisous (or however you spell that word). Do you do something cool with feathers after culling? Hate to see the beautiful feathers go to waste.

Do YOU cull or get someone else to? I confess, Anthony gets that job. I just want to love 'em, clean up after 'em, feed 'em, and eat 'em when the time comes.

Ok, so what's up with Daisy? Why not hatch from her eggs? So much to learn; so little time. Wow, that was a lot of dudes the one you mentioned had nine cockarels; wow!!!

Ok, so the tire with dirt . . . is that considered "clutter"? Plenty of tires around these parts to be had. Is that for dust bathing? How many birds do you have? I like cement driveways; so clean looking. Country dirt roads round these parts. Our "driveway" is where we drive to get back to the house .

I cull, process..hubs cooks. They did have good flavor.

I’m sorry, I misspoke. Donald (the RR looking niederrhiener in the tire) I won’t hatch her eggs bc I don’t want those RR features.
My ideal plan is to breed Daisy and Big Momma (BM for short..another story) with Spatch and try to get that mysterious autosexing niederrhiener trait to come out. Plus, bielefelder is sooo slow growing it makes more sense to use Niederrhiener for meat if I choose to do that.

It seems to me those German breeds are so stinking way cool; seems there would be a thread here dedicated to them not unlike the one for BO's and silkies and such. Everytime I read about those two German breeds I can't help but wonder why oh why are they "rare". Seems everyone would want chickens like those. IJS :bun.

No niederrhiener thread. Let’s fix that.. lets tag and ask admin if there’s anything special needed to add a breed to breeds thread. Not sure who to ask but will start here: @Nifty-Chicken

The bielefelder thread is hit or miss with activity. There’s even one from 2012.

Yea I don’t think there’s a Naked Neck/Turken thread either. I was looking for info on breeds and was surprised that one was missing, seems they are very popular!
