Honestly I wonder how many of these rare cases are raising their flocks downstream from Commercial Agricultural runoff. Anywhoo "the sky is falling"!

I do agree with this part though:

Chickens should be outside animals only and while they may be cute, the CDC says, please "don't kiss or snuggle backyard poultry."

my 6 year old son developed a fever and diarrhea. doctor asked if we had chickens and diagnosed as salmonella right then. tests came back a few days later...not salmonella. still don't know what it was.

I don't see why every time these stories come out that people get their panties in a bunch.
I read the article and didn't see anything to get bent over, nothing that probably isn't true or nothing against keeping chickens.
You gotta figure there's probably a million people with poultry in their households now so that's very few cases in the big picture.
I didn't see anything outragous about what they were saying and the precautions mentioned are the same as many here would also suggest.
Storm the castle if you feel the need but I'll be staying home enjoying my birds.
