Like someone said before, if hugging my chickens gets me salmonella....guess it’s my time I’d love an indoor chicken though...gotta figure out how to sneak one in lol.

1. that article is almost most defiantly wrong unless a whole town decided to have eat chicken poop day

2. You can stop yourself from getting sick simply by having proper hygiene. Wash your hands after you touch the chickens, kiss your chickens but only right after a bath, and don’t rub chicken poop all over your face

3. Don’t worry too much. The chance of catching it from a chicken is near zero. You are much more likely to get it eating fruits form the grocery store.

X2 to that. that news story does sound suspicious..does it say that these people got sick all at once or was it over some length of time? Basic chicken hygiene seems to be the key here.

As for me, I'll keep on keeping on as I have had chickens for over a half century without issues. Common sense goes a long way in life.

omg teach your children to wash their hands
wash fruit and vegetables before eating
dont handle raw poultry with your bare hands from the grocery store, and wash your hands
make sure chicken is thoroughly cooked..
oh yeah,
dont put small turtles in your mouth.
