X2 to that. that news story does sound suspicious..does it say that these people got sick all at once or was it over some length of time? Basic chicken hygiene seems to be the key here.MY THREE STEPS TO NOT GET: salmonella
1. that article is almost most defiantly wrong unless a whole town decided to have eat chicken poop day
2. You can stop yourself from getting sick simply by having proper hygiene. Wash your hands after you touch the chickens, kiss your chickens but only right after a bath, and don’t rub chicken poop all over your face
3. Don’t worry too much. The chance of catching it from a chicken is near zero. You are much more likely to get it eating fruits form the grocery store.
I might be able to pick me up some free hens if the public panics enoughGiven the panic nature of many folks, this will potentially lead to a notable exodus from those that just got into the chicken business over the past few months. As for me, I'll keep on keeping on as I have had chickens for over a half century without issues. Common sense goes a long way in life.
