The triple antibiotic ointment we use is just in the human first aid section here and is a clear salve you might put on a cut before you put on a bandage. It doesn't sting or burn or anything so my animals don't put up a fight if I put it on them. If the wound is covered then they cannot lick/chew/bite/ingest the ointment. Honestly most things you would use to clean your own wounds should be safe (as long as they don't ingest it), but if you were to put something like hydrogen peroxide on there I'd imagine your duck would start kicking up a storm! I would think your duck can make a full recovery without an oral antibiotic. Think about if you have a festering splinter/sliver, it gets sore a swollen all around it, but once you get it out, within a few days you feel much relief. It's similar. I would think your duck would be just fine if you wait until morning, but I'd keep her isolated so she's not walking around and aggravating it.
