I just got this little pullet yesterday. The farmer that sold her to us said she came as a free egg in an order of his from last spring. He said he doesn’t know what she is.

Based on reading online & her feathered feet, beard & muffs & teeny size, I think she’s a Belgium D’uccle... and a silver birchen color... but I’ve not found a Birchen d’uccle anywhere online. The closest color listed under D’uccle is silver quail. Since she’s 10 months old, there’s a chance her coloring will change with the next molts. (My salmon favorelle really changed at 18 months anyway.)

Thoughts? What do we have here? Color & breed? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Thank you!
Photos are of her (x3) next to a 2 cup Pyrex and of her beside an Ameraucana of the same age. Final photo is a screenshot of a silver quail D’uccle & a Birchen color (Orpington).

Either a birchen D'uccle or maybe they are called gray D'uccles, as Japanese bantams of the birchen color pattern are called grays. Come to think of it, she could be a D'Uccle crossed with something of the birchen pattern, like OEGB or Japanese bantam.

Oh that coloring does occur in Old English Game Bantams & those gray Japanese bantams do look the same!

Would all D’uccle traits (muffs, beards, vulture hocks, feathered feet) show up in a hybrid/mix though? I don’t know what’s dominant/recessive.
This girl has all those D’uccle traits.

Do you still have this gal? I just wanted to tell you that she very much appears to be a D'Uccle. I bred one just like her last year. I just happened to do a search for "Birchen" and saw your post. Here is my girl.
