Biscuits or Cornbread?

I like my (sugary) cornbread. The recipe I use doesn't have a lot in it..but I suppose some is enough LOL. I make it for dinners and sometimes eat it toasted for breakfast with butter and honey with a cup of tea.

But biscuits I

and I use my Grandmother's recipe wich is the best I have ever had. I can have hot fresh biscuits any time of the day and I often put stuff in them such as cheese, garlic and bacon bits to have with chowder of any kind.

I cannot stand the biscuits in a can they make me

Cornbread fritters win hands down over biscuits for me. I mean, I love me a good homemade buttermilk biscuit, but cornbread fritters are the best.

How I make them:
Some self rising cornmeal (locally stone ground is best)
1 egg
Some milk

Mix together to form a runny paste. Drop into some hot oil in cast iron frying pan. Brown until bubbles form around edges, then flip. Serve warm.

These are also GREAT to make Collard Sandwiches out of. Just get 2 fritters and put collards betwixt them.

Depends upon who is doing the baking. Biscuits are always good. Cornbread can be better or worse depending upon the recipe. "Good" cornbread I like better than biscuits.

Mmm... Fried cornmeal mush with butter and real maple syrup over the top! I make stiff mush on the stove and put in a loaf pan. It hardens up overnight in the frig. In the morning I slice it and fry it in butter on the griddle, until it's crispy.

I only eat sweet cornbread recipes made as muffins. We eat them as a snack.

I make biscuits most of the time for sausage and gravy. The extras get eaten later with butter and jam or honey. I like them with fried chicken sometimes, too. We usually have toast with eggs.

If you don't like your scratch recipes for biscuits, maybe try Bisquick.

I am lucky if I can find grits that aren't instant

I'm luck to find GRITS in the Grocery Stores !!!

After considerable looking and asking employees... I've found WHERE they hide it!

(It's in the CEREAL aisle! )
