IN NEW YORK??
It takes an act of God to own a gun in the peoples republic of New York where the sheeple out number the humans.

Rage broadheads are probably the single most devastating broadheads on the market. They leave a gaping wound. Problem with a bear is their thick coat, it tends to absorb blood before it hits the ground. If your properly licensed, I'm pretty sure you can carry a sidearm during bow season. You can in N.H.

Yes they will eat chickens and the sad thing is...there is very little you can do to protect them from a bear. It can be done but it is hard. That is the only critter than could think of getting into my coop and I watch for them all the time here. They are so strong, they can break out windows, break down doors you name it.

If you have a bear tag, take him/her down. Use a Rage broadhead if you want a sure take down. They are awesome for bear hunting with a bow.

Just remember one thing about bears and bows...you cannot miss. You have to have a perfect shot or be ready to finish him off with a gun/rifle. That is alot of hair and hide to go through and make good penetration. Good luck with him

Not so when it comes to rifles, and there's no way in HECK that I'd face a bear with a handgun. Not even a powerful one. I spent years in Alaska, and the only thing a handgun is good for is shooting your hiking partner in the knee so you can outrun him... since to survive a bear attack, you only have to be able to run faster than your friends. There's no registration for long guns in NY state outside of the city, though I think there is in the city. (thats "THE" city, meaning NYCity, not just "A" city.)
