Black breasted chick turned out to be a hen (?)

Now that I’ve seen her adult feathering, I believe she’s a pullet. I’ve seen other hens with similar colorations, just never expected them to look duckwing as adolescents.

Females dont have Duck Wing pattern. The ones that do have hormonal issues

I agree. This hen looks wheaten to me, not actually duckwing.

Wheaten males have a duckwing pattern, wildtype and eb brown/partridge males also have Duckwing pattern

I don’t believe this is a duckwing pattern

If it hasn’t laid an egg, I bet it crows. You can see some hackle feathers on two of them.

It’s not a henny feathered male: henny feathered males have the same coloring as females and none of the parent breeds have henny feathering.
I have seen hens with some male coloring due to hormones that still lay eggs. I don’t know if this is her case. Usually they would still have some male feathering.
My suspicion is it is a weird interaction of genes or a mutation. I don’t know. Or it could be intersex.

The coloring really does remind me of a cockerel. But at its age, it probably would have crowed by now. (If it’s anything like my goofy d’Anvers cockerels, lol)

I have one that's very similar looking, hatched March 13. Mine is definitely a cockerel though. He was also mostly black as a chick.

Not necessarily. My Orpington didn’t crow until like 7 months lol
