Hello! Do FBCM’s get puffy cheeks? I thought I had a pure breed, but she’s getting really puffy cheek feathers. Could she be a mix? I appreciate the thoughts!

That doesn't look like cheek muffs. She looks normal to me.This is the best pix I have presently, I’ll take some more tomorrow.View attachment 2591375
You are welcome! Though, I just noticed her eye color. Marans have VERY orange eyes normally. She could be a mix. What color legs does she have? I can not tell in the photos.Interesting, I guess I’ll see in time. She started getting the puffy cheeks about a week and a half ago. Very pronounced last few days. She doesn’t have a beard. Never did. Thanks Ladies and Jane!
So, this got me thinking. I have two BCM chicks right now, and their eyes are black. I also have a BCM hen whose eyes are bright orange. So I wondered, do they start black and then change? You are welcome! Though, I just noticed her eye color. Marans have VERY orange eyes normally. She could be a mix. What color legs does she have? Awesome! I did not notice that with mine at all!So, this got me thinking. I have two BCM chicks right now, and their eyes are black. I also have a BCM hen whose eyes are bright orange. So I wondered, do they start black and then change?
They do! The following pictures are of the same bird at different stages of development. Between black and orange her eyes took on kind of a gray color when she was a young pullet. I'm not sure exactly when they turned orange.
Oh, and she is definitely a BCM, although you can't see her copper in these photos. She only has a tiny bit on the back of her neck. She lays this dark egg in the back:So, this got me thinking.
