Black Copper Marans chicks

I know what u mean...I keep finding breeders in N FL (almost GA). I was super excited when I found this guy only 40 minutes away.

Dont have the equipment to do it, some places had a min. order that would be to expensive. I might post something at the feed store about going in on some with other people/can hatch them.

What is the difference between a Cuckoo Maran and Black Copper Maran (other than the actual look of the bird)...they both lay the same type of eggs right? What makes the copper worth more?

Black Coppers almost always lay a good egg color, come in a good, meaty, large size, and have feathered shanks as they should.

I've got BBS Marans and I love them. They lay beautiful dark brown eggs, although probably not as dark as the black coppers. BCMs tend to lay the darkest eggs. They have very nice dispositions and are great layers of BIG eggs. My girls just started laying and already their eggs are bigger than my other breeds. They are very sweet despite the fact that they didn't get quite as much attention as my previous batch of BOs and BRs. My roo is a blue copper and he's been great so far. Not aggressive and really good with his ladies. Mine are from a breeder (not hatchery stock) and have beautiful feathered legs which I just love. Take a look at the sellers adult flock and if they look like good quality stock I would say go for it. I just love those Marans

We have a 16-week-old BCM pullet that we acquired a couple weeks back from a friend who hatched it out I *think* from one of Wynette's eggs (I could be wrong on that, but I'm about 90% sure). Since the first day she got here, she has had the sweetest disposition!

I am told she comes from good lines and should lay a nice, dark egg. Her feathers are beautiful--the black feathers have a nice green/blue/purplish sheen in the sunlight, and her copper hackle feathers are just gorgeous! My favorite part about her is her disposition, though. She is really sweet, very personable, LOVES my husband (I'm the one that wanted her, but he's the one she loves LOL). Of our whole flock, she has by far the sweetest personality and is a breed I'd recommend just based on that alone.

Plus she's pretty big for 16 weeks. I can tell she's gonna be a good, large bird and hopefully a good egg-layer.
