Black Copper Marans discussion thread

Looks like that would be messy is it?
No, it does not drip or leak. My bird bedding stays perfectly dry. I have units of various sizes in my coops as well. They are especially awesome for quail. The brackets I make allow the bottles to be mounted on the outside of the wire cages so I can refill without having to disturb my birds or dump dirty water.

Well I finally found a place for my two boys! They are sooo sweet! The best rooster I've ever had and the first! xD My girls can't resist our King, Pepper.

^thats kind pepper. Handsome? Beautiful? Yeah he is only like 6 months here. Putting him in the fair next this coming year.
The other one is the Womanizer, Chocolate. Get it? Chocolate is a girls best friend... tempting. so yeah, we named him chocolate because he was a womanizer.

Taking shelter from the storm ^
Baby pictures!!!

Just stating the obvious but thats chocolate xD ^

Thats King Pepper. ^

Peppers feathers in the summer. They're almost like a Phoenix feather now! So long!

Chocolate on the left and pepper on the right.

Both of them now, In the barn, In winter, together.
But those are my first two rooster and they are just kid friendly and must have attention! <3 I love them! chocolate loves to cuddle.
Anyone else have super cuddly marans?

I know there's a "wanted" section in the buy-sell forum, but I'm posting on both...

I'm looking for 2 new roos (will pay for them), and finding a pair that was raised together turned out to be a hard task!!

I'll be using them in my breeding program, so ideally they are:
1 black copper, 1 blue (2 blacks work as well, but not preferable)
LOTS of feathers on their legs
Born from a hen that lays VERY DARK eggs, preferably a 7 or 8
Between 6 and 18 months of age (older is fine, but not preferable)

I live in Yelm / Olympia area, WA state.

Thank you! :)

If you don't mind?... Where did you get them? I have seen ones that seal nicely when upside down. (installed underneath water reservoir), but that one is installed sideways. Do you have a link? The little feeders with the PVC fittings are nice too. Home made I presume... very nice little setup.

The water nipples can be purchased right here on BYC! I really like them. Yes, the modified pvc units and metal mounting brackets are put together here on our farm.
