Black Copper Marans - Time progression of sexing - UPDATED with WEEKs #1-3 PICTURES

I am already over my LIMIT for my area! But yes, I know I have to stop after the NEXT pullet. My husband does not know about BeepBeep yet! She looks just like my Marans but 3x smaller. If he ever notices her in the backyard- he might think it's just a big blackbird! Planning to buy my final pullet this weekend. Easter Egger probably since it's hard to find a true Ameraucana. LAST ONE, I SWEAR!

Hahaha!

My guess is that you're in Sharks territory, based on being urban and 90 minutes from where I am. Used to live there - Berryessa neighborhood. I bet you'll be able to get away with a decent little flock, unless your neighbors are evil. We used to hear roosters all the time, and once found a stray pullet in the back yard.

Code is one thing, enforcement is another, if you know what I mean.

Sounds like you will soon have a very pretty set of eggs!

when I decided to keep chickens it was 4-5 hens and 1 roo. I made 2 more coops and separated the big run and made 2 more coops so that I can keep all of my roos and muscovie ducks. I think I have about 40 chickens (2-18 months old) and 7 muscovie ducks. 2 more chickens have been ordered (ameraucana and brakel).

Oh my goodness, what a flock!

I'm afraid I might be heading that direction. Aiming to keep it under a dozen, but we'll see.

So far, my neighbors have not said anything, so that's great. The rooster started to crow 10 days ago, very deep and low. They haven't said anything about that either. It's not loud so I'm hoping it stays that way.

Noooooo. I will stop at 8. I live in an urban area...and I have an illegal rooster too. He started to crow but it's low and deep...so far. Cross my fingers it stays that way!

if your neighbors don't complain you are safe

as my chickens are the only noise that comes from my home I threatened my neighbors that if I cannot keep chickens I will leave and rent the house to anyone and I will not care if they will listen to the loud music day and night - which is not unusual here. so they DO prefer my 5 roos and 2 cockerels
