Hi! First time posting on here. My 20 week Austrawhite was the first hen to exhibit symptoms. She had black spots on her, but I was able to get them off with Vaseline. A week later I noticed a chapped like substance & black dots on her comb. My husband seems to think the spots are dirt and the white is DE… but now I’ve noticed them on the rest of my flock, which includes Easter eggers & green queens. I’ve heard the my two Austrawhites sneeze occasionally but otherwise the whole flock seems to be laying normal. I also have 3-1 year old- “misfit” Hens who definitely have been pecking and bullying my younger hens. I haven’t noticed any physical symptoms on my older hens.
I also wanted to note that we live in the southern part of the US. It’s been super hot & humid lately so they’ve been panting quite a bit. We are going to try changing their water everyday & using electrolytes.
Could changes in their comb be related to dehydration? Or does this look like a favus & fowl pox? Any advice & guidance would be greatly appreciated!
