black meat breeds, silkies ect....

Nice fibromelonistic hyperpigmentation featured in your new Hmong chicks looks like you have a good breeding pair combination genetically speaking,

I just put eggs into my incubator from my Black Quechua Olmec, and Mapuche Huastec rooster over my Silkie x Java/Black Quechua Olmec pullets eggs with one egg from Java x Black Quechua Olmec hen...one of the mothers of the two pullets...one of these is bearded, one not, both of these very black and black skinned with small tight crests are laying well each day a tinted egg looking just like Ayam Cemani eggs..

All the pullet sisters (black with black skin too ) of these two pullets are laying well also so far though the many others are laying green- turquoise or light blue eggs. I plan on a few more of these to add to the incubator too f2 being bred back to black skinned brothers, then these f2 with one blackest roo or Svart Hona ?

They are actually looking so good I might just keep these closed....work on increasing size perhaps and see about how well over time they lay....I already know from harvesting cockerals they are nicely black inside. I'm really liking how nice they are even the roosters.

Thanks though i'm surprise the black chick isn't as dark as the ginger red chick.

Keep up what ever your doing or planning in your project, sounds like you're on the right track for some nice FM chickens.

btw, have 9 more in the bator waiting to hatch by next Monday

I'm thinking of starting my project with silkies since that is what I already have. I kept the biggest chicks and am growing them out now but am uncertain what I want to bring in to help with size and meat. Leaning towards orpingtons or bramas. I am not familiar with either breed except for what I have read so far on here under breeds and a chicken picker app. Any info or opinions would be appreciated.

Will also have some maylay eggs coming in.

Early silkie crosses tend to have the extra digits, crest, beards and feather shanks, but that can be bred out over time. Focus on your crosses to maintain the blackness first, then worry about the other traits.

I have black chicks hatching out of blue eggs argh! So it must be my ac roo that's the daddy.. more eggs are hatching.

So now what do I do to get a fibro blue egg laying chicken breed now, since this is the direction things suddenly went into.

My ac are laying, but I'm giving them more time to lay before incubating any eggs.

My haffie is in with the bresse and laying big eggs along with the barred rock, maybe I should hatch some of them?
