Black silkies

I have a pair of black silkies from CJ Exotics. I have never shown them but they have no DQ's (the roo is likely show quality, hen is breeder quality at the least maybe show). I am hatching my first eggs and fertility is 100% so far. I can sell small quantities 4-6 at a time.

I am also willing to swap eggs for true black silkies (not splits) from a different quality bloodline.

I would be willing to swap. I have pictures that I posted in the Ohio thread of the pair I just picked up. I am unsure on who they came from but am going to find out what lines they are. They have no DQ's and the roo has a pure black neck, no leakage. I was told they were laying when I got them but the little pullet has not laid for me yet. I have only had them for a few days so far so she hasn't settled in yet and they are only 9-10 months old. I have pictures in my profile of them plus can post some more later. I have to wait till she starts laying again and then check fertility. :D

Anyone willing to sell some hatching eggs from their show black silkes? I'm going to be in the market for some this next few weeks. I'm trying to put my black silkie own back together for next year.
I would if mine were older and laying more.. unfortunately I have only one girl laying right now and my young cockerel is just now fertile.. it will be a while before i have extras. I hope you find some !

Mini horse,
Great! It took my hen 3 months to lay after she was shipped to me. I can post pictures early next week.

Glad I found this forum. I have been looking for blacks for my chocolate project. PLUS very few people are breeding good quality blacks. I plan on doing both. I am done hatching eggs for this year. All eggs hatched in the future will be my own. I have a lead on chicks from a couple people. I want to make sure what I am getting is good quality. Doesnt have to be show quality.

So far the chicks I have hatched are healthy and hatched easily. I am not sure about quality yet. They are not vaulted (fine with me) and the foot feathering is sparse (I am not happy about that), but toes are perfect. I have only hatched 3 so far with more in the incubator and under broody hen.

Everyone seems to mix their blacks with paint, lavender or into the bbs pen. -

Does white dilute the black gene? I was thinking of adding a white hen with excellent foot feathering.

Genetically, black is about as neutral as you can get in chickens.
