This is the thread where I collect chicken names.....post names that you've named your chickens, or names that you want to name future chickens! If you have a specific breed or gender that you think that the names could be good for, add them to the post. Pictures of chickens that you've named are appreciated! I'll put the names of my flock and names that I would like to name future chickens in my next post.

I have a GREAT, very foolproof plan:
1. Grow up
2. Get job
3. Move to country
4. Build GIANT chicken coop and several smaller ones
5. Get chickens
6. Get more chickens

The names of my flock:
Tillie, white leghorn. Generally a good chicken name, IMO.
Ruth Bader Chicksburg, Red Sex Link. Named for the lacy white feather collar around her neck.
Poppy, Red Sex Link. She stayed in the coop the first day we had her, and I thought that it was 'a good shy chicken name'. Another generally good chicken name IMO
Round Chicken, red sex link. This one's a bit weird, but it's because when we got her she was missing all of her tail feathers. It started off as a nickname but it just stuck. She's very embarrassed about it. She has her tail back now.

Tillie, the white leghorn.

Ruth Bader Chicksburg, Ruth for short.

I do like naming animals after other animals! I also like breed specific names:
-Buff or Buffy (buff anything, but buff orp preferred)
-Co (cochin)
-Olive (olive egger)

I love naming my chickens after other animals too! Hence we have a Fish, Turtle, Goose, and we used to have a Duck too.

I was all excited to name my 3 girls Henny, Penny, and Little. Then my 7yo son saw them, and promptly announced Love for the one who always wanted to be cuddled, Peck for the one always pecking at things, and Brownie for the brown one. Sigh. At least he was a bit more creative than usual; I would've expected Chick, Chicken, and Chickie.

I tend towards naming my chickens after their personalities or attitudes.... hence i have a hen named s*!thead lol

Ini mini (now my eldest Dutch bantam and boss of the flock)

Black, my best acrobatic flyer (black Dutch)

Pino (lavender Dutch missing since last Thursday) , Tammy (pyle Dutch) and Cookie (Tournaisis)

Thanks, but I don’t expect so. Can’t find her anywhere and she never was away for so long. The other chickens seemed upset last Thursday and Friday. The WhatsApp group of the neighbourhood didn’t respond at all. So I fear I will never see her again. I have peace with it bc she was 6 years old and had a great chicken life being the boss of the flock.
