Hi, I have a 6 week old chick who today when I was holding notices she felt... Squishy ... Is the easiest way to describe it.

She is a silkie cross. The bloating get feeling is below her crop Just wondering if anyone knows what this might be and if it's worth culling her cause of? Hoping easy fix as she was the hen we were gonna keep.

Any insight appreciated!

How is she acting? Is she alert, active, eating, and drinking? Is she passing droppings? Could she have coccidiosisi? If her crop is not puffy, it could be a leaking air sac that she has gotten from an injury. It'd called subcutaneous emphysema, and can be deflated with a needle if there is air under the skin. Here is some reading:

She is acting completely normal eating and drinking fine no change in walking anything like that. Wouldn't notice if I didn't lift her off my shoulder. We did just put them in with our flock and they have been chased and pecked a little so injury could be possible.

Update;

After two days of underside of the chick feeling like fluid or air... The chick today is... Deflated? She is still acting fine, keep an eye on her next few days before assuming we're In the clear. But flying to my shoulder when I opened the coop was a good sign
