6 week old chicks

I have been noticing, that there has been “blood” in stool where the chicks are, though the poo is not almost black with blood, it’s more pinkish and not throughout most of it.

I’m seeing it again with the chicks I have still in the brooder

My barred rock sleep kinda funky too recently

I will try to get it as soon as possible! I live in a mountain area and may have to order it online. Does this disease end with a chick dying from a seizure because that’s how my chick passed yesterday...

Thank you for the help, I ordered for amazon, and it will be here by Friday— no overnight shipping since holiday... I’m hoping to death that our feed store or vet has it so I can get it tomorrow but also I’m hoping she can pull through till Friday if not.
The disease is coccidiosis- contagious and deadly.
I agree, try to get the Corid asap. Ask your vet if they have any Amprolium that they can give you to last for a day or two until your order arrives.
In the mean time clean up all the poop in your brooder/housing. Are you using sand? If any of that is wet, then clean that up too. Warm weather, heat lamps and moisture are a breeding ground for Coccidia. Coccidiosis is an overload of Coccidia which are protozoa, so it's really not a disease. The protozoa are found in soil and poop.

I would also give the chicks some white cooked rice with buttermilk, that may help soothe them until you can get the meds. Make their feed available free choice, but keep the dish and water station as free of poop/debris as you can too. ( chicks are messy, they poop in everything!)

Corid dosage is 1 1/2 teaspoons Corid powder or 2 teaspoons of 9.6% Corid liquid per gallon of water. Give for 5-7 days - make sure this is the ONLY water available during that time period. Mix a fresh batch at least once a day.

It would be a very good idea to drench each chick with a direct dose when you get the Corid. This is IN ADDITION to them drinking as much Corid water as you can get them to drink. Drench dosing is found here

I deep cleaned and now I am just sitting and waiting. Luckily my barred rock does still have some vigor and life in her, she talks to me still and drinks a lot of water, so if I can hopefully get the meds tomorrow, I have faith she will recover. Thank you so much for all the valuable info, I wish I had learned sooner, but I am glad I am learning now. :highfive:

A quick question, is drinking a lot a good sign? I am hoping it is since the chick who passed yesterday wouldn’t drink at all...

Could be signs of being too hot.

It's better than not drinking.
By hit you mean feverish? No heat lamp, just a warm room and a clean roaming area.
I found a feed store that sells Corid finally, my area has a couple odd restrictions of selling certain medicines, but I got lucky to find it.
My baby is still holding on and talking and walking around. I’m going to start their treatment by the end of today which is the only time I can get it.
Thank you for your help!

I think drinking is good.
Keep us posted on how they are doing.

I took a picture from the corid dosage thread, I wondered if anyone could tell me if at the 7-14 day dosage, it’s 1/2 teaspoon liquid dose per gallon or just 1/2 teaspoon liquid dose a day?

I have the chicks with electrolyte and probiotic water and the barred is doing better than she was yesterday, I’m still going to treat all my birds with corid though.

If you have the liquid use 2 teaspoons per gallon for one week (each day for a week). Then the second week use 1/2 teaspoon per gallon ( per day) for a week.

@Texas Kiki gave you the right instructions.
If you got the Corid, then I would start treatment now.
Eliminate the electrolytes and probiotics, the Corid should be the only thing added to the water.
