All of them ? wow, if only. lol yes, the polish are the same time as the serama but they are much bigger chicks . i think they will be too big to stay together. all my big eggs that are good are polish except one brown. . no plans of putting any more in after this and today is day 11 so half way. I cant have full blooded chicken because i cant decide who i like the best. go for one of every thing. hahaa

Yes granny they were all moving!! I know what you mean :ep I was expecting some quitters so it was a pleasant surprise to see the wiggling. But then again as you said don't count your chickens before they hatch. It's only day 10 for mine as of right now, nearly to the hour! So still time for disaster.

Something I could do with your thoughts on please - had eggs yesterday to eat and cracked them into the bowl and the eggs from the girls with the blue splash were not fertile (two of them) why would they be fertile in the ones in the incubator and not these? Do you think he is not working right? He is quite young and dosnt seem as interested in the girls as the silver lace is with his. I have seen him mating with them but not as much as the silver does. But then again I'm not always there watching.

No problem with the one I cracked from the silver lace roo that was fertile.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated :highfive:

how many hens does he cover ? being young he hasnt picked favorite yet but they do. are the hens themselves low on the pecking order? and if the eggs were laid just this same day it may be very hard to see if they are fertile. do you have rooster booster there ? it is a super vitamin for roos. LOL

He has five girls. I don't think all of them are laying yet though I know for def that two are laying possibly three. I have them all on a poultry vitamin in the water five days out of seven because of the polish not absorbing vits and mins well anyway.

I'm not exactly sure if the ones in the incubator are from the same hen or a new layer in that group who's eggs I cracked yesterday. They don't really have a pecking order all hens get on well no fighting or pecking they are all sisters. The roo isn't keen on the little skitty frizzle one. He has a peck at her but I don't think she is laying yet anyway.

Maybe the eggs I cracked came from a new layer who's laying machine is not in full working order yet?

thats sounds right yorkshire. was it smaller egg then normal? a pullet egg ? I just pitched an idea to Little giant

Oh I can't remember :old as I was doing three different meals no one wanted the same thing!! But I think they may have been smaller. I've just taken some pics of the eggs I have at the moment

The eggs to the left first two I'm sure are from the one that has been laying the longest. They feel heavier and are more rounded.

And as you can see these are from the 4 week younger ones who play football with them in the nest box and coop :he

LOL, looks like they had fun. I just cant tell really but i would follow your hunch. your camera takes nice pictures. How many polish do you have ?

They are a real pain with all the messing about with them :somad

I have 13 polish. 5 gold lace with the blue splash roo. And 2 chamois, 2 white crested black and 2 gold lace with the frizzle silver laced roo. Think I'm going to crack some more open tomorrow to have a look at the fertility.

I will let you know what happens.
That's me for tonight granny :caf Been up since 4am I thnk I'm nodding off

speak to you tomorrow and thanks for the advice on the eggs, pointing it out that they could be from a new layer never occurred to me. Sometimes I can't see the wood for the trees
