blood ring or blind

Day 17 today so lockdown tomorrow for the eggs. All looking good but won't be able to hatch in cartons as there will not enough room so will have to lay them down. This will drive me mad as I like to monitor how long eggs have been pipped but with hatchers knocking them about I won't be able too. Maybe I will have to get a bigger incubator to satisfy my OCD on hatching. But what will be will be I guess. That's a bummer on one of the hens, how old are they now? Has it crowed?

I have not heard it crow but it has been very hot so i am not spending a lot of time out there. It is however mating . I am not sure on the age but very young. can you mark the eggs with pencil to help you keep up ? number them then when you see the pip write down the time next to the number ?

Hi granny! Hope your ok? Eggs are in lockdown now, just done them. 25 are still in there I have one questionable egg that I wasn't sure on. Looked full and air sac was ok but didn't actually see it move so left it in just incase. Also one other egg looked liked it had internally pipped so I might have an actual pip tomorrow.
I haven't number marked them as I already have the date they were laid and who they came from on another number may have seriously confused me. I will just have to keep my eye on them as best I can but then again when a few have hatched that will be impossible.

On your roo certainly is male then if it's mating!! Too hot to go outside oh my. I'm not keen on it being super hot either I too would be indoors.
Hope all is ok with your flock?

ETA New coop gone mad with the pink paint and my better half made them a better dust bath

sorry, I dont even make sense to myself sometimes. I had to reread. LOL I meant the hatching part of its journey. and yes, 72. dont seem possible .

Thanks granny :highfive: They are looking good now they are drying. Really like these yellow ones of the Ginny eggs. Have got 7 hatched now. All 4 of the Ginny eggs are out. 2 yellow ones a silver lace one like the last hatch and a black one this time. They really are a pot luck chick with Ginny already being a hybrid hen.
Another half hour for me watching the incubator and I'm heading for bed :caf

Do you remember the old popcorn that went on the stove (Jiffy) and the foil would just keep raising up and sometimes it looked like it was going to pop open ? That is what you may wake up to. take the lid right off the bator.
