blood ring or blind

on the nail maybe it had a poop ball you didnt notice ? I did that once and it lost the nail. sounds like a calcium thing to me though. give the breeders extra and the baby too maybe. I have heard that too much in them can cause ? kidney ? problems.. I lost a baby chick last night. it was an older one too. no reason i could see. Im glad your boy is better. I know that feeling all to well. Tom is still not well. he keeps falling asleep gi problem is severe. he wont let me take him to er and i am guessing he is severely dehydrated.

I'd be carting Tom off to the ER straight away, kicking and screaming if I had to. Can you call a doc out or something like that. Why are men like that? I just don't get it with them. My other half is the same, I have to badger and badger him to go to the docs with ailments. It was the same with his diabetes. He was sick and I mean really sick. Lost loads of weight and he's not a small bloke so it was really noticeable. When I did finally get him to go the doc could not believe he was still standing up with how bad his sugar levels were. Thankfully he's on the tablets now and he's back to his usual size but it took some going on and on at.
You keep at him granny all you can !!

I'm not sure on the poop ball, it's all clean on the end of the foot and just skin so if it happened it was when they were just in the shed. They are on shaving though so maybe that why I didn't notice. Now they are outside I can see things on them better. I'm going to have a better examine of it tomorrow and will get some pics. I have them on a commercial layer feed, (the adults)and they have shel and grit on the side all the time. Yes on the calcium and kidneys, I do know too much is bad for Roos who dont produce eggs it can cause kidney trouble for them.

Sorry about the chick :hugs Sometimes there is just no reason for these things.

Title, how about ~ "Chicken collector" ?

chicken collector, hahaaaa sounds about right. Tom is a very stubborn man. and he thinks what is going on right now is not serious. He needs iv drip i know. He said, Im drinking water. He had one glass yesterday and i am not sure if he finished one today. I cant even tempt him with a Reese cup.

2 more chicks today.. I took 2 eggs in the house to candle because they have been there a long time. Wanted to see what they looked like. I rushed them back out. (sigh) . she was sitting there waiting for them. LOL

He is one tough cat!! A coyote attack and bringing you a raccoon. Bet he makes a great flock guardian for your birds. I have to say he's looking very comfy in that chair. LOL

Desert - Dessert? I'm not good with spelling, just glad this iPad has spell check thing on it. It guesses what you mean and changes it for you. Lord knows what some of my posts would be like if it didn't :gig

I did get what you meant though with bird for afters. Mine only kills poor little fledgling birds. She got the blue tits and green finches this year. But then again that's about her size as she is runty dwarf farm cat. She's even scared of the chickens. Had them out in the garden this afternoon and they got a bit giddy and flew and screamed about a bit. The cat made a sharp exit back into the house.

Congrats on the chicks, more seramas? Sounds like the hen has not given up if she was waiting for you to return them. What did they look like, anything in them?

How's Tom today? Did you get him to the ER?

cochin chicks today. incubated by serama . might be half and half. Tom is the same. He is sleeping tons and ate a tomato sandwich. crapping himself bad. the eggs looked like they are about ready to hatch. my cat wont mess with the chickens either. even the babies.
