Blooie's Blankie Fort

Good morning!! Happy Easter. Blooie, I candle as I set them and on days 10, 15 & 18. Before day 10, I can't see much.

Here are some of my Easter HAL chicks -28 hatched out of 34. I have 41 staggered, set to hatch half next week, the rest 5 days later, plus 24 waiting for an empty bator. I am addicted!!

I now need to find buyers for these little babies!!

Um, does she have hair? Does said hair stay on her body completely? We lost our Molly last fall. Now, I consider myself a good housekeeper - with a disabled granddaughter here most of the time and with her spending a great deal of her time on the floor, I have to be. I have the vacuuming done every day before she gets here at 7:00 am. But I'm still finding dog hair in the most unexpected places!!

Well, almost to Day 5. I set the eggs at 6;45pm on the 22nd. I am kinda disappointed in how many of the eggs looked last night, but I know it's early. How do you people DO this over and over again?

lol. I'm pretty sure that's how things will be when our Liberty passes. She's an Eskimo mix. If you lay even one finger on her, you will be covered in fur instantly.

It does get easier... After your 1st hatch you have had time to absorb all the info and figure out what you are going to do and what you are gonna toss out the window. :lau :p

It is very overwhelming!!

At least you saw something, you are already doing much better I did on my first try! :clap

I broody hatch every year, last year was the first time I bought some eggs, suddenly I was worried about them where I normally toss eggs under a chicken and wait to see.

Is your second incubator a Styrofoam one? I think you said it was a hovabator. I am curious about how the two different ones are working, the Brisnea is pricier, but is it better?

Me? I have a Farm Innovators 4200, more commonly known around my house as "The Beast'. It's doing fine so far. For ease of use and fitting into this little house, I like the Brinsea Octagon 20 better. But I'm withholding judgement about which I prefer until the end.

Yes you, sorry I didn't quote, you will have to share your thoughts at the end, is the Beast equipped with a Turner and circulating fan? I'm making you do my homework for me. We have a small house too, less to clean.

No problem....ask away! I'm learning as I go so when a question pops up I can actually answer I'm overjoyed! Yep, I'll be posting as I go along here, if I don't pull the blankie over my head and pretend the world doesn't exist anymore!

The Beast has the egg turner and fan. The Brinsea has the fan but I didn't order the available turner - I turn them by just turning the incubator from one flat side to the middle to the other flat side.

Thanks, I saw the Turner alone was 80 dollars, you have me looking around, I'm not actually hatching anything at the moment, but in case I need to I better get educated too. I was kinda worried I would actually win some eggs than have no clue what to do, so I'm relieved it's you. If you feel like someone is following you closely behind, it's probably me.
