BLRW joke - now 11 weeks old, is it a boy??! (answer in post #82)

Sigh. At 13 weeks of age, it has become blatantly obvious that Scarlet is a ROO!!

How I'm going to re-home such a bad example of the breed is beyond me (was sold to me as a BLRW - yeah, right).

Looks like a mutt and not even a pretty or particularly friendly/endearing one. Bah.

So for all of you who had money on a pullet...

w00t! Sorry he's a he, though I do love to be right.

His feathering kinda reminds me of one of my EE cockerels. This one is half BW Ameraucana and half RSL (not sure what was used to make the sex link).

No, he's only 13 weeks old... but those saddle and hackle feathers don't lie!

Plus he's built like my other BLRW roos, there is nothing girly about him anymore besides the lack of wattles and comb

Oh dear! and I was almost certain this bird was a hen, luckily I didn't bet any money on it!

I would still wait until he gets all his roo feathers and at least crows before getting rid though as he will look better and you might have more chance of somebody wanting him as he will be a handsome bird.

That was my plan... I paid $7 for him when he was 3 weeks old and he's been eating me out of house and home since then, I hope to get $10 for him but doubt it... maybe $5 if I'm lucky

I would think he does have some BLRW in him, but probably got crossed up with something else. Yes, there are definite pointies in those hackles in this new picture. That is too bad. Post him on Craiglist and you can get at least $7, maybe $10 if someone is just looking for a handsome roo (which he will be when he fills out), they may take him. If not, Mahonri is right....Dinner with chicken BBQ.
