Thanks , this is great info! I actually have 3 of your beautiful white ameraucanas . sunnychic hatched eggs from you and i got 2 hens and a roo. They are REALLY beautiful and my favorite! If i ever see a green egg i will toss it or eat it, They have not yet started laying yet but will keep you posted!
I like this way of thinking also. The eggs and their color it seems are important feature of this breed.Strive for the standard I am wondering , do any of you think that eventually the green egg layers will become a sub breed and earn thier own merits and be included as such in the standard as a seperate breed?or are they already? It does seem like there are still a lot of problems to iron out as with every breed but it just seems like there are several almost sub-species going on here. This is quite confusing to me.......rumpless, has tail, green eggs, blue eggs assortment of colors, ectt.... It is going to take me a while to sort it all out. ,, I dont know much about this breed, I have seen green egg layers at the shows and green eggs and the last green eggs we saw shown were very wrinkley. I mean the aussies we raise have a very nice and smooth shell the feel nice in your hand., the green eggs we saw looked like a releifmap, I am not seeing that in here thou, all of the eggs I see people show in here seem like better quality than what we saw out around..
I just know that the black birds with the blue eggs struck me as stunning and must haves.
I am still working on the aussies, I am pretty happy overall with my pics to breed, narrowed down from 8 hens to three, selling anything is out of the question , there is still a lot of work to be done.It will be interesting to see what comes of this new batch of birds for us.
We had at one time a part I will call her easter egger given to us, solid white small almost non existant comb, muffs beard, but had feathers on her feet, she laid pale pink eggs and sometimes pale blue depended on the time of year and we called her the mood ring cause you never knew what color egg she was going to lay. freindliest bird we have ever owned. prefered human contact over other chickens. liked to jump in your lap while you were on the patio reading. she was a year old when we go her so we figure she was right around 11 when she died.
