um, ok... But a Green egg is not a Blue egg, unless blue and green are now considered to be the same color. I can understand varying shades of blue, but not olive green. Did she actually see the picture you posted on here? I'm not getting how she can say those eggs are all from true ameraucanas

Hatch them out - it'll be pretty obvious what you recieved. I wouldn't let feedback until they hatch, and I'd be inclined to contact paypal... IMHO

You can get green eggs from true Ameraucanas, but most responsible breeders eat them and dont send them out to the public to perpetuate more green laying Ameraucanas.
I took this as an example of a 3 shades of Olive Eggers(top) and some Marans and Amer eggs. bottom is L to R EE, green Amer egg, then three slight shades of diff blue.
The hen that laid that green egg is directly from Paul Smith, as are the blue ones on the end. The green eggs are fun in the egg basket, and tasty. That's what they are good for.

Cottagegarden, what kind of Ameraucana is laying the olive green eggs? Something is amiss there. How long have you had the birds from Paul that lay those eggs? I can't believe that Paul would knowingly sell any chicks that he thought would lay a green egg.

The ABC and the APA SOP clearly state that an Ameraucana must lay a blue egg. So, while it may be an Ameraucana in every other way as far as looks, it would not be considered a true Ameraucana if it's laying something other than a blue egg.

The other thing I would question is whether or not the bird laying a green egg could be breeding true as is required. Obviously if the bird is laying a green egg, there must be some brown egg laying genes still popping up and I would think those brown layer genes would pop up in other areas as well.

Btw CG, those Ameraucana eggs are a nice looking blue.

God Bless,

The genes causing tinted eggs (causing green) take much longer to clear from a line than do plumage colour genes.

Fortunately I am never going to hatch any of that particular bird's eggs. They are 18 months now, Blacks, bought as chicks from the Smiths.
I just figured sometimes you get the short end of the genetics stick. So, of course, they are exceptional breeders and would not knowingly sell anything not up to par
but sometimes undesirable things crop up. She is the one in front, so if you look carefully, she also only has a muff on one side. By some rare stroke of luck
the other one lays a good egg and is set up well. She has done well in shows. She is bottom pic, and the one behind in the top one.

I look at it like the Marans, they have to lay a 4 color egg on the chart-so you know it almost works out that the good color eggs come from not so good typey Marans.
You have to be an optimist to breed, or at least have a sense of humor.
Anyway, if light laying Marans are not really, then this is a not really Ameraucana, and the topic at hand of the eggs from this breeder make them "Not Ameraucanas".

Awwwwww...you can't just leave us hanging!

Yeah, what she said.....

Sorry to leave you hanging!

Anyway it had nothing to do with this forum but for those who never got a response from Julie about anything, I only had one email from her today. Short and right to the point, all she is asking is to remove her name from the website which I respectfully did so because it might have been bad for her business. She was upset about it. What I did with her flock and the "reason for doing it" information gets the short end of the stick on my end.

So it is back to raising more Spitzhauben pullet chicks elsewhere. However I do like her roo that she sent me, a real gentleman but not enough girls for him to breed successfully.

Right now I am focusing on my Welsummers and the Spitzhaubens will be culled and raised, culled again for the proper specification of the breed itself. (sigh!)

Cottage, you got some beautiful eggs and beautiful Amercuanas going on in there! I can not believe one would sell an Amercuana with green tinted eggs.

I hope things get worked out for d73..As that lone chick did not appear to be a variety of Ameraucana and not all of the eggs were blue there COULD be some room
for good customer service here. At least replace the not blue eggs since that is what is featured in the auction. Life doesnt always go as planned, but you try and keep people happy.
If you want to have a good reputation as a business and all...just sayin.

I only talked to her the one time. Wasn't really happy with the answer. I have not left feedback yet.

It's a cool chick and it will have a good home and all, but I don't think it's what I payed for.

Here are some updated pics.
